Crossing Guard


We are looking to hire Part-time School Crossing Guards with the opportunity of becoming Full-time.  Guards provide for the safe movement of children to and from school when crossing public roadways and intersections by observing gaps in the traffic and leading the children across the roadway or intersection.  The hours are approximately two hours per day, Monday through Friday, during the school year (September through June).  The salary for the Part-time position is $18.25/hour.  Part-time guards are utilized when crossing posts cannot be covered by full-time guards.  Upon completion of the Part-time training, guards may be offered the position of Full-time.  Full-time guards have increased pay, paid personal time, sick time, and paid holidays as listed in the Crossing Guard contract.  Individuals applying should be physically and medically fit to permit adequate job performance and must successfully complete a structured training program which is provided by the Police Department.  


Class II Special Police Officer

Telecommunicator


The police tele-communicator is responsible for providing communication services consisting of receiving and dispatching emergency calls for service, interviewing callers, recording information from callers and patrol units, assigning and dispatching law enforcement, fire personnel, and medical units, providing pre-arrival instructions to patients, and coordinating mutual aid to local law enforcement agencies.

 

-No person shall be appointed as a public safety telecommunicator unless he or she is a citizen of the United States, is able to read, write and speak the English language, is physically qualified and of good moral character and shall not have been convicted of any crime.
-Every applicant for the position shall be required to submit a written application verified under oath, setting forth his/her qualifications for the position and other data in the form and manner as may be prescribed by the Borough.
-Before any appointment is made, the chief of police shall ascertain that the applicant for the appointment is eligible and qualified for the position.

 

All candidates are required to obtain and maintain all necessary EMD and 911 operator certifications. Prior experience is preferred, but is not a prerequisite. The starting salary is $22.89/hour.
